The Doll Clinic

Sometimes, art waits for the right moment to speak to its audience again. Such is the story of The Doll Clinic, a musical fairy tale for children created more than six decades ago by Vida Matjan, based on a text by Jovan Aleksić.

Through careful research into Vida Matjan’s rich artistic legacy, the score of the work was rediscovered and is now being brought back to life on stage in a new production. With an orchestra, choir, soloists, and young actors, the audience will enter a world in which dolls tell a story about life, its joys and challenges, friendship, and growing up.

For adults, the performance will be a powerful reminder of childhood and the strength of memory, while for younger audiences it will be an invitation to discover imagination, curiosity, and the beauty of creating together through music, theatre, and play.

The performance will feature the Chamber Ensemble of the Boka Symphony Orchestra, students, and the Choir of the Vida Matjan School for Primary and Secondary Music Education, creating a unique tribute to a woman whose knowledge, passion, and dedication left a lasting mark on the musical life of this region.

Conducted by Anđela Homen, this special performance brings generations together and offers an opportunity to preserve and share the legacy of Vida Matjan, a woman whose name continues to inspire new musicians and audiences.

The costumes and set design were created by the project partners, Kotor Museums (@muzejikotor).
